The Union Minister for Rural Development, Mr Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, has said that contract recruitment of staff at the National Institute of Rural Development will be stopped and staff recruitment will be on regular basis from 2009. Speaking at the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Institute here on Tuesday, Mr Singh also said that even the retired staff of the Institute will be eligible for medical benefits. "With the various programmes being implemented by the Union Government, we hope that all those who are below poverty line will be elevated and poverty will be eliminated in the country and the next year will be the year for rural development," he said. - Our Bureau
