Spot rubber rules weak

Kottayam, Dec. 31 The rubber prices turned weak on Wednesday. Sheet rubber moved down to Rs 72 from Rs 73.25 a kg catalysed by the declines in domestic futures. The volumes were moderate.

The market seemed to be moving under the grip of domestic players since the trend setting TOCOM was closed on a designated holiday. There were no fresh quotations from the major manufacturers, sources said.

Futures weak

RSS 4 weakened at its January futures to Rs72.00 (73.02), February to Rs 72.15 (73.10), March to Rs 72.65 (73.18) and April to Rs 73.99 (74.00) a kg on National Multi Commodity Exchange ( NMCE).

Spot rates were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 72 (73.25); RSS-5: 70 (71); ungraded: 68 (69); ISNR 20: 68 (68.50) and latex 60 per cent: 49 (49).
