The Hindu Business Line : BSNL awareness camps on `e-PCO'

The Dakshina Kannada Telecom District of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) will conduct awareness camp for its `e-PCO' initiative in Mangalore and Udupi on January 9 and 12, respectively. The `e-PCO' initiative is aimed at transforming the current BSNL PCOs (public call offices) into Internet service centres that offer services to citizens in the neighbouring locality. A press release by the BSNL said here that `e-PCO' will be helpful in arranging air, bus and railway ticket booking and in providing an opportunity for payment of all types of service bills, mobile currency recharging and in rendering many more services. The release said the awareness camp for Dakshina Kannada district will be held at the office of Principal General Manager, Dakshina Kannada Telecom District, Mangalore, on January 9 and at the Telephone Exchange at Udupi on January 12. The BSNL, Intel, ITZ Cash card and the Karnataka STD Public Telephone Operators' Association will participate in this camp. The Karnataka Circle of BSNL thought of this unique concept of `e-PCO' to revitalise the STD public telephone business, the release added. - Our Bureau
