Spot rubber gains on buying

Kottayam, Jan. 3 The rubber prices moved up on Saturday. The prices were firm on covering purchases inspired by the sharp gains in domestic futures. Sheet rubber closed higher at Rs 74 (73) a kg while certain buyers from the tyre sector were buyers on the grade up to Rs 73.50 a kg on early trades. The inflow of the raw material was low and the market made all-round gains on low supply.

In futures, RSS 4 improved at its January contract to Rs 75 (74.02), February to Rs 76.45 (74.48) March to Rs 76.63 (74.70) and April to Rs 77.30 (75.98) a kg on National Multi Commodity Exchange (NMCE).

Spot rates were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 74 (73); RSS-5: 72 (70); ungraded: 69 (68); ISNR 20: 69.50 (68.50) and latex 60 per cent: 50 (50).
