Tea Good liquoring dust teas see demand at Kolkata sale Our Bureau Kolkata, Jan. 4 Last week, CTC teas in North India auction centres at Kolkata, Guwahati and Siliguri were irregularly lower with quality, according to tea auctioneers. Liquoring dust teas maintaining quality continued to meet with good demand and sold well. Medium and plainer dusts as well as teas low in quality were irregularly lower. The major blenders continued to operate actively with some support from other packeteers. There were good inquiries from Western Indian dealers for liquoring sorts, while other internal sections were selective. The export buyers operated primarily for larger brokens and liquoring fannings. Improved Darjeeling whole leaf and brokens were firm. Remainder was lower. Fannings were easier. Packeteers operated and the local dealers were active. In the orthodox sale, selected whole leaf and brokens were steady while the remainder was lower. West Asian and CIS shippers were the mainstay of the market with active support from Hindustan Unilever Ltd on the fannings. There were inquiries from North India. The leaf intakes were minimal last week, as the season has virtually come to a close. No reports were available on the international markets presumably because of the holiday season.
