Need to build confidence

The year 2008 witnessed totally unsteady and volatile run of he bourses almost through out the year.

This has caused heavy losses to investors and, consequently, a severe erosion of confidence in the restoration of its health. The tragic meltdown in the global monetary system has also accentuated the situation.

The stimulus offered by the government is too small to arrest the downslide of the economy. What is needed in the present context are confidence-building measures and a dedicated team to monitor the situation and take appropriate measures without delays.

The sectors that are less vulnerable to be affected should be helped to retain their strength and performance.
