NTPC executives to go on strike

New Delhi, Jan. 6

The NTPC Executives’ Federation of India (NEFI) has decided to follow their counterparts in the oil sector for better pay packages and have threatened to go on an “indefinite strike” from February 25. Prior to this, NEFI will go on a token strike for a day on February 17. The Federation, claiming the support of some 9,000 NTPC executives, has also submitted a 14-point memorandum to the Prime Minister on Monday, seeking better pay packages for executives a nd more autonomy for NTPC to decide on such matters, a NEFI member said. NEFI had served notice regarding the proposed stir on December 5, according to the provisions of the Trade Unions Act, 1926, under which a one-month notice is required to be given prior to an agitation. —
