Sugar trade thru deepwater port at Kakinada

Kakinada, Jan. 7 A trial shipment of 25,000 tonnes of sugar was unloaded at the deepwater port here earlier this week by the Kakinada Seaports Ltd for the importer, Silk Road Sugars Private Ltd, a joint venture sugar refining company of EID Parry (India) Ltd of the Murugappa group and Cargill Intl.

The joint venture company, coming up in the food processing special economic zone here, will be importing its entire requirement of sugar through the deepwater port.

It will process 6 lakh tonnes of imported sugar and export it.
