MRPL not affected by strike

Our Bureau

Mangalore, Jan. 7

The operations at Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) have not been affected in spite of the strike call given by the Oil Sector Officers’ Association.

Sources in the refinery told Business Line that operations at the refinery were not affected on Wednesday. “Officers are wearing black badges and working to rule. Protestors are taking turn to sit in dharna, without affecting the operations,” they said.

Receipt of packages is not interrupted and throughput is not affected, they said, adding that the management is monitoring the situation.

Cargo not hit

Sources in the New Mangalore Port said that cargo operations related to MRPL have not been affected due to the strike. “There is no impact of strike on discharge of crude or loading of products at the port. It is going on inside the port,” they added. NMPT handles the export and import cargo of MRPL.

MRPL is a subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and a Mini Ratna category I company.
