Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Jan. 7 PurpleLeap, a part of Educomp which is an initiative for graduates and college students, announced the launch of its career centres in Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr Amit Bansal, founder and CEO, PurpleLeap, said, “At present, we are launching 10 career centres but by the end of the quarter the plan is to have 50 centres.”

He added that after Andhra Pradesh the plan is to start similar centres in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

“By the end of the quarter we intend to set up 100 career centres across the country and by March 2010 it is likely to touch 500,” Mr Bansal said.

The centres, he said, will be developed as a one-stop solution for career management and skill development needs of students as well as training and placement needs of colleges.

Mr Bansal said that PurpleLeap will make the necessary investment for establishing the centres at colleges and train students there. “We will start with career programmes for basic professional skills as well as specific programmes for different entry-level roles across industries such as IT, KPO and telecom,” he said.
