General Insurance Star Health business growth plans Chennai, Jan. 8 Star Health Insurance, the two-year-old standalone health insurer, expects to report a profit of Rs 6 crore and garner a premium of Rs 500 crore for the current financial year. Addressing presspersons Mr V. Jagannathan, Managing Director, Star Health Insurance, said, the company expects to infuse about Rs 20 crore during this year depending upon business growth. Mr Jagannathan said that currently the company has been earning a premium income of Rs 40 lakh a day. Though, a few months ago, it used to sell policies worth Rs 50 lakh a day, sales are picking up after a brief lull. On December 31, Star Health earned a premium income of Rs 1 crore, he said. Star Health’s Super Surplus policy, a top-up health insurance (it provides cover above a basic health cover) for Rs 10 lakh with a Rs 3 lakh and Rs 5 lakh variant launched six months ago has sold over 3,500 policies, said Mr Jagannathan. Star Health Insurance expects to launch a policy called Criticare, a combination of mediclaim and critical illness, for which the approval is awaited from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority. – Our Bureau More Stories on : General Insurance
