Our Bureau

Kochi Jan. 9 Firm price trends were evident at the Kochi Tea Auction which had high dust tea arrivals as against low arrivals at the leaf tea auction. Major blenders were selective at the dust auction, while loose tea trade lent fair amount of buying support. Plainer CTC varieties particularly the cleaner varieties witnessed fair amount of export enquiry and their prices spurted by close to Rs 10.

Dust and Leaf Sale

There was 12.94 lakh kg of dust tea on offer where high priced CTC prices fluctuated within a narrow range while medium CTC remained steady. Orthodox dust grades generally quoted higher. There was 2.55 lakh kg of leaf tea on offer where high grown varieties quoted higher, whole leaf grades remained steady and medium orthodox grades were steady to dearer.
