Cambridge varsity looks to build links in India

Our Bureau

Kolkata, Jan. 9 The University of Cambridge plans to expand its existing links and build new opportunities with academic, business and political communities in India, said Prof Alison Richard, the University’s Vice-Chancellor, here on Friday.

“The number of postgraduate students from India has more than doubled, while the number of undergraduates has seen an increase of 50 per cent in the past decade,” Ms Richard said at an interactive session with newspersons organised by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Friday.

Cambridge University, she said, would look at attracting more Indian students and would try and put more financial assistance in place in order to support meritorious candidates.

“We would not want financial consideration to stand in the way of bright Indian students, we will therefore try to put more financial support in place,” she said.
