Duncans unveils Darjeeling variants

Bangalore, Jan. 9

Duncans Tea, part of the Rs 2,000-crore Duncan-Goenka Group, has entered into the super premium tea category with the launch of two Darjeeling tea variants – Duncans Darjeeling Tea and Indian Treasure. Duncans Darjeeling is priced at Rs 120 for 250 gm, while Indian Treasure is priced at Rs 85 for 100 gm. Duncans hopes to capture 5 per cent market share in the Darjeeling tea category, said Mr M.C. Appaiah, COO, Duncans Tea. The tea market in India is valued at Rs 10,0 00 crore and domestic consumption of Darjeeling tea is valued at Rs 50 crore. The Rs 180-crore Duncans Tea has other brands such as Runglee Rungliot, Sargam and Shakti.
