Strike will continue, says AIMTC

New Delhi, Jan 10 Despite the arrest of its leaders, the All-India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) on Saturday said the transporters strike will continue.

The AIMTC South Zone Vice-President, Mr Gopal Naidu, told Business Line: “On Monday, throughout India (we plan to stage) roadblocks and dharna.”

He also sought the release of AIMTC office bearers arrested under Essential Services Maintenance Act. In a statement, he said: “It is unknown that how AIMTC can go in for talks when the leaders are arrested.”

Minister’s response

Earlier, addressing a press conference, the Union Transport Minister, Mr T.R. Baalu, said: “All office bearers of AIMTC have not been arrested. Others can come.”
