Tourism States - Kerala Tourism development plans for Kottayam Our Correspondent Kottayam, Jan. 11 District Tourism Promotion Council, Kottayam, is introducing a host of measures to provide better facilities at important tourist centres in the district, said Mr. P. Venugopal, District Collector. The plans were discussed at a meeting of the Council recently. Mr V.N. Vasavan, MLA, attended the meeting. A new tourist boat will ply daily between Kumarakom, Pathiramanal, R. Block and Alappuzha at affordable rates. A new boat jetty is being constructed at Kavanattinkara, Kumarakom. A river bank tourism project is also proposed to be completed soon on the banks of Meenachil river. Erumely Tourism and Hospitality Institute, the first of its kind in Kottayam district, will start functioning in the coming academic year.
