Events States - Karnataka Beach quiz a hit with corporates, B-schools Our Bureau Mangalore, Jan. 12 ‘Quiz on the Beach’ – the flagship event of Atharva (an annual management fest of T.A. Pai Management Institute, Manipal) – which was conducted on Kaup beach in Udupi district, attracted participation from 16 corporate teams and 20 B-school teams this year. A press release by the T.A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) said here that the team consisting of Mr Govind Grewal of Tata Capital and Mr Mitesh Agarwal of Sun Microsystems emerged winners in the finals on January 10, and won prizes worth Rs 50,000. In a close contest, they trounced the team from Yahoo consisting of Ms Tejaswini Udupa and Mr Ajay Kasargod. Mr Arul Mani, Vice-President of Karnataka Quiz Association, conducted the quiz competition. The finalists hailed from Infosys, HSBC, Cognizant, Yahoo, IBM, Tata Capital, Sun Microsystems, Nokia, Savoir Faire, and SAP Labs, it said. CORPORATE DEBATEPolemic – a corporate debate on the topic ‘Future of Indian banking sector in view of the global financial crisis’ – was the highlight of ‘Atharva’ on January 11. Participating in the debate, Mr B.R. Bhat, General Manager of Corporation Bank, said that a fine balance should be struck between reforms and regulation. Indian banking would not have been where it is today, had it not been for reforms. Representatives from Corporation Bank, Axis Bank and the RBI participated in the debate.
