GSM operators add 8.1 m users

New Delhi, Jan 12

GSM-based mobile operators added 8.1 million new subscribers in December, taking the total to 257.8 million. Bharti Airtel was the biggest gainer with more than 2.7 million new subscribers during the month followed by Vodafone Essar with 2.1 million additions. BSNL got 8.7 lakh new users while Idea Cellular added 1.49 million to its total tally. Bharti Airtel has 33.2 per cent market share with 85.6 million mobile subscribers.
