Chennai, Jan. 13 “Science is the key and scientific thinking is a must. It [science] may not come naturally, but has to be developed,” said Mr Sam Santhosh, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Calsoft.

Speaking to students of the Institute of Management Studies at IIT Madras, Mr Santhosh said “GNR – genetics, nano technology and robotics — is the way of the future and science is the way right way forward. Information technology will play a key role in enabling the three,” he said. Mr Santhosh was speaking at a BL Club event presented by Indian Overseas Bank.

“Science is a key subject and should be learnt along with management. Software and hardware are unlikely to be key differentiators in the future. You need to have multi-disciplinary skills and an integrated approach. This will be important in the future. As leaders of tomorrow, you should understand the implications of science along with business and management,” he told the students.

Mr Santhosh urged the students to look at some of the future trends such as the use of renewable energy, social networking and green technology. “Social networks will create a big wave in the way we network,” he said. Communication, security, education and knowledge management, and smart materials (nano technology) were some of the other key sectors, he said.
