Our Bureau

Ahmedabad, Jan. 13 The fourth Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit culminated with the signing of 8,500 Memorandums of understanding between the State of Gujarat and various domestic and international companies. The total intention of investment announced was Rs 12 lakh crore ($241 billion). The figure was overwhelming in comparison to the last three years, where the total amount of investments announced was $185 billion, said Mr Narendra Modi, Chief Minister.

“During the first summit in 2003, we signed around 76 MoUs, 226 in the second and 675 in the third summit. Please view the 8,500 MoUs that we have signed in the light of the current recession that the world is going through,” he said. The expected employment generation from the projects is expected to be 25 lakh, he added. More than 20,000 delegates are estimated to have attended the two-day Summit with 600 foreign delegates.
