IDFC Projects, BHEL, GSECL to set up thermal plant

Mumbai, Jan. 13 IDFC Projects, BHEL and Gujarat State Energy Company Limited (GSCEL) on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding to set up a 1600-MW thermal power plant at Sarkhadi, Ahmedabad.

The MoU was signed at Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2009, said IDFC Projects, in a notice to the BSE.

Under the MoU, the three companies propose to build, own and operate a 3200-MW thermal power plant near Sarkhadi in Junagad district of Gujarat in two phases of 1600 MW each.

The project is proposed to be implemented by a joint venture company of the three partners. GSECL and BHEL will hold 26 per cent each and IDFC Projects and Associates will hold 48 per cent with management control of the joint venture, said the BSE notice.
