Rajat Gupta to stay on EMRI board

Hyderabad, Jan. 13 Including Mr Rajat Gupta, Chairman of the Board of the Indian School of Business (ISB), the existing members of the depleted board of Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI), have said that they will stand by the cause of EMRI.

The other surviving members on board EMRI are Dr Jayaprakash Narayan, National Co-ordinator, Lok Satta; Mr K. Krishnam Raju, Chairman, Suchitra Group; and Prof Raj Reddy, Carnegie Mellon University; and the CEO, Mr Venkat Changavalli.

According to a release from EMRI today, these members in a joint statement said that they would stand by under the current difficult circumstances. Mr Rajat Gupta is out of the country but he continues to be a member of the EMRI board, it added.

“We are also in the process of appointing an independent agency to go into all financial and operational details of EMRI, so that the Board and the public are assured that highest ethical standards are observed in managing the EMRI,” the release said.

After the events at Satyam Computers, 7 of the 12 member board had quit, including Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Mr Kiran Karnik and Dr Krishna G. Palepu and Mr K.V. Kamath.
