NTPC board clears Rs 6,000-cr investment

New Delhi, Jan. 13 State-run NTPC Ltd on Tuesday said it will invest Rs 6,037 crore in expansion and renovation schemes at three of its power projects.

The NTPC board approved investments for its Super Thermal Power Projects (STPP) in Madhya Pradesh (Vindhyachal), Uttar Pradesh (Rihand) and Chhattisgarh (Korba), the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The approved investments include Rs 5,915 crore for the fourth stage of the Vindhyachal thermal station involving the construction of two 500 MW units.

Besides, investments worth Rs 67.3 crore and Rs 54.5 crore to undertake renovation and modernisation works at 2x500 MW Rihand STPP and 3x500 MW Korba STPP, respectively, were also approved by the Board.

NTPC had also tied up with the Power Company of Karnataka Ltd to develop a 4,000-MW super thermal power station at Kudgi in Bijapur district and set up a 500-MW capacity wind power project in the State.
