Tea Quality teas witness enquiry at N. India sale Our Bureau Kolkata, Feb. 2 Last week, selected CTC liquoring teas maintaining quality were irregularly around last, while medium and plainer categories as well as teas showing a decline in quality were lower, according to tea auctioneers. Hindustan Unilever was active while there was selective enquiry from Tata Tea and other packeteers. Western India dealers operated for liquoring sorts while other internal sections were more active. Darjeeling whole leaf and broken grades sold at irregularly easier rates. Fannings were lower and met with some withdrawals. Packeteers operated, with some local interests. Select clean orthodox offerings were fully firm while stalky varieties met with lesser enquiry and sold at lower levels. There was fair enquiry from West Asia and CIS. North India operated on whole leaf. INTERNATIONAL MARKETSAt the Mombasa auctions, offerings were readily absorbed at firm to dearer rates with traditional exporters operating. The Colombo auction saw good demand at firm to dearer levels for all categories. CIS shippers were active with good support from other traditional markets. More Stories on : Tea
