‘Reconsider rail freight rate hike’

Madurai, Feb.3

The Sattur Chamber of Commerce and Industries has made a plea for a reconsideration of the proposed increase in the railway freight rates. In a letter addressed to the Union Railway Minister, Mr Lalu Prasad, the Chamber Secretary, Mr P.T.K.A. Balasubramanian, referring to the proposed hike by eight per cent from the ruling rate, said the move would hit the public hard, he observed.
