Spot rubber prices unchanged

Kottayam, Feb. 10 The physical rubber prices finished almost unchanged on Tuesday. The only gainer of the day was RSS 4 which improved to Rs 67.50 from Rs 67.25 a kg as sellers stayed back possibly expecting revised quotes from the tyre sector. The transactions were in an extremely low key. The February contract for RSS 4 concluded at Rs 68 (67.73), March at Rs 69 (68.88), April at Rs 70.77 (71) and May at Rs 71.76 (72.07) a kg on National Multi Commodity Exchange (NMCE).

Futures dip

Rubber futures on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange lost ground on Tuesday morning. The market was weighed down on long liquidation at the opening but the deferred contracts firmed up on late trades. Buying dried out towards the morning close. The market ended up in a mixed tone with marginal variations either side against previous close. The February contract for RSS 3 closed at ¥134.5 (133.8) (Rs 71.76), March at ¥137.1 (138.1), April at ¥138.3 (139.2), May at ¥140.6 (141.3), June at ¥142.7 (143) and July at ¥144.8 (144.5) a kg on TOCOM. RSS 3 (spot) slipped to Rs 75.12 (75.17) a kg at Bangkok.

Spot rates were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 67.50 (67.25); RSS-5: 66 (66); ungraded: 65 (65); ISNR 20: 65 (65) and latex 60 per cent: 57 (57).
