Security ‘Public Web sites vulnerable to attacks’ R. Savitha Pune, Feb. 10 The year 2009 will see more organised crime and the target of attacks could be public Web sites and networking sites, Mr Ranjeet Menon, Virus Lab Head, Quick Heal Technologies (P) Ltd, has warned. Through such sites, cyber criminals would seek to unleash havoc by exploiting vulnerable code and using the information on individuals in these sites, he told Business Line. According to him, since more and more services were moving to Web technology, it was an ideal environment for malware too. “We will see server side polymorphic malware catching up. The cyber criminal will come up with new techniques to bypass security products” he said. Mr Menon cautioned that users of smart phones would also be targeted by new mobile malware. The mobile platform was already in the radar of the malware writer. In most cases malware attacks went unreported for fear of loss of reputation. More Stories on : Security | Internet
