Education National Management School opens doors to MBA aspirants Our Bureau Chennai, Feb. 10 The National Management School, set up by a team of academicians from the US, is all set to open its doors to MBA aspirants for the academic year June 2009. According to promoters of the B-school, the Chennai facility, set up at a capital outlay of Rs 3 crore is the first in a chain of schools planned across the country. The institute will offer full time two-year postgraduate programme in management in collaboration with the Georgia State University. The diploma will be co-signed by the Deans of both the National Management School and the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at the Georgia State University, Atlanta, US. Speaking at the launch ceremony, Dr Sankaran P. Raghunathan, Dean of the National Management School, said the institute will bring in American education, with 100 professors from the US. The Governing Board of the institute will include Prof. P.V. Indiresan, former Director, IIT Madras; Fr. P.D. Thomas, former Director, XLRI; Dr R.K. Raghavan, former Director, CBI; and Dr V. Kumar, Professor of Marketing, Georgia State University. The academic advisory board is lead by Dr Jagdish N. Sheth, Professor of Marketing, Emory University, and boasts of a wide cross section of academicians including Dr Avijit Ghosh, Vice-President, University of Illinois, Dr Usha Nair-Reichert, Professor of Economics, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Dr Rajan Chandran, Vice-Dean, Fox School of Business, Temple University. The Business Advisory group is to be chaired by Dr V. Krishnamurthy, Chairman, National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council. The school, spread over 50,000 sq. ft. area at Ambattur, will take in 120 students for the first term, and 60 each in October 09 and January 2010. It will look for candidates who are in the top ten percentile based on the CAT/XAT or the GMAT. The two-year full time programme comprising 720 hours of classroom work with 36 courses comes at a cost of Rs 9.6 lakh. Students can apply online at www.nms.edu.in.
