Tata Steel has been awarded the Golden Peacock Global Award for corporate social responsibility (CSR) for 2009. The company was selected by the Golden Peacock Awards Jury under the co-Chairmanship of Dr Ola Ullsten, former Prime Minister of Sweden, and Mr P.N. Bhagwati, former Chief Justice of India and Member of the UN Human Rights Commission. The award looks for continual commitment by business to ethical behaviour, economic development and improving the quality of life of employees and their families, as well as to engagement with local communities and society at large. —
