Aurobindo drug gets US FDA nod

Hyderabad, March 4

Aurobindo Pharma Ltd has received tentative approval for anti-depressant drug, Escitalopram Oxalate tablets, from the US Food and Drug Administration (US FDA). The Escitalopram Oxalate tablets are the general equivalent of Forest Laboratories Inc's Lexapro tablets, which fall under the Central Nervous System (CNS) segment. It is indicated for treatment of depression associated with mood disorders. The market size of the drug is estimated at $2.6 billion for the 12 months ended September 2008, the Hyderabadbased company said in a release. - Our Bureau
