Spot rubber rules steady

Kottayam, March 12 Physical rubber prices were steady on Thursday. Widespread rains all over the plantation areas kept most of the sellers on sidelines as they were expecting a positive trend in the days ahead. The March contract for RSS 4 was quoted at Rs 72.65 (73.01), April at Rs 74.17 (74.11), May at Rs 75.30 (75.36) and June at Rs 75.60 (75.67) a kg on National Multi Commodity Exchange (NMCE).

Futures weak

Rubber futures on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange turned weak. The March contract for RSS 3 declined to ¥128.2 (¥131.5) (Rs 68.99), April to ¥131.5 (¥135.5), May to ¥132.4 (¥136.5), June to ¥134.5 (¥137.8), July to ¥134.5 (¥137.7) and August to ¥133.5 (¥137.5) a kg on TOCOM while the grade slipped to Rs 71.41 (72.53) a kg on Singapore Commodity Exchange (SICOM). RSS 3 (spot) improved to Rs 74.87 (74.69) a kg at Bangkok.

Spot rates were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 73.50 (73.50); RSS-5: 72 (72); ungraded: 71.50 (71.50); ISNR 20: 71 (71) and latex 60 per cent: 55.50 (55.50).
