New Products & Services Samsung bets on 3G phones New Delhi, April 1 Korean electronics and durables company Samsung India said it is hoping to notch at least 45 per cent of its total sales from multimedia and touchscreen phones. The company, which is embroiled in a patent issue on its dual-SIM phone, said it hopes to resolve the matter soon. "The matter is still sub-judice and we would not like comment on it. However, we hope to resolve the matter the soon," Mr Sunil Dutt, Country Manger Mobile Business, Samsung, told Business Line on the sidelines of a mobile launch. Samsung Electronics had moved a writ petition in the Delhi High Court challenging action by the Customs Department to prevent its imports of dual-SIMcard mobile phones because this allegedly infringes a local patent. Speaking on the new range of mobile handsets, Mr Dutt said, the company has partnered with BSNL and MTNL to provide high-end handsets for their 3G services. It also launched an 8 mega pixel touchscreen, 3G enabled phone `Ultra' priced at Rs 27,500. This is the fifth 3G enabled phone that the company has introduced. - Our Bureau
