South Eastern Coalfields output up

Kolkata, April 1

South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL), a mini ratna company, has produced 100.19 million tonnes of coal, against a targeted production of 96 million tonnes, which is a new output record within Coal India by any coal-producing company. The new production peak is 8 per cent higher than last year’s output, the feat being achieved by SECL three days before the end of financial year 2008-2009. The new production feat includes an output of 17.42 million tonnes from undergrou nd mines, which represents a 5.1 per cent growth in such production, says a press release. —
