New Business KEC Intl bags orders worth Rs 95 crore Our Bureau Mumbai, April 25 KEC International Ltd (KEC), a major player in the power transmission EPC business, has bagged two orders worth Rs 95 crore in Mozambique and Namibia. The Mozambique order is for a turnkey construction of a 110-Kv power transmission line and a substation in the Cabo Dalgado province. The total length of the line is 100 km and the project is scheduled to be completed in 18 months. Optical cable networkThe project has been awarded by Electricidade De Mozambique, the energy company of Mozambique. It was secured through KEC’s joint venture, Al Sharif KEC, Saudi Arabia. The Namibia order is for supply and installation of optical cable network and corresponding hardware accessories for a 220-kV D/C project. The total length of line is 207 km and the project is scheduled to be completed in six months. Namibia utility, Nampower, has placed the order with the company. ‘Positive note’“We are happy to start the new financial year on a positive note by winning these orders in the international market. “With these orders, we have now begun consolidating our presence in the strategically important Southern Africa region. More bids“We have also submitted a few more bids in this region, results of which are awaited,” said Mr Ramesh Chandak, Managing Director and CEO, KEC International. He said that the company is doing projects in 10 countries across Africa and is now executing projects worth Rs 1,007 crore in the continent.
