Brazil to host global pepper conference

G.K. Nair

Kochi, April 30 The 37th session of the International Pepper Community (IPC) will be hosted by Brazil early December in Belem in the Para State, according to the Brazil Pepper Trade Board sources.

They told Business Line that this was announced by the Director, Department of Plant Products Inspection, Brazilian Agriculture Ministry, after a meeting of officials recently to discuss the preparations for the IPC session.

Para has been selected for hosting the conference because of its importance as the largest pepper producing region in Brazil, they said.

Associated with the 37th session, “a business event will take place, gathering will consist of producers, importers and exporters of pepper and other agribusiness related products and services. The business event will provide the opportunity for the participants to meet and make business,” they said.

Major producer

Brazil, member of IPC since 1981, is one of the major pepper producing countries.
