Mangalore, June 15 The Mangalore-based Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management (a unit of Bhandary Foundation, Mangalore) has signed an agreement with the Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad (IIIT-A) for developing academic resources at the college.

Addressing presspersons here on Monday, Dr M.D. Tiwari, Director of IIIT-A, said under the agreement 10 students from the college can do their project work at IIIT-A. The students visiting IIIT-A will be offered professional support and guidance by the faculty of IIIT-A. On successful completion of their academic programme at IIIT-A, the students will be given a certificate.

He said this is the first such agreement of IIIT-A with any institution in Karnataka.

Dr Tiwari said that IIIT-A will conduct two of its national seminars in Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management.

Mr Manjunath Bhandary, President of Bhandary Foundation, said Sahyadri is striving towards establishing similar academic tie-ups with IITs, NITs and other premier institutes of India. Under the agreement, Sahyadri faculty members can use the faculty development programmes, such as workshops, seminars and conferences conducted by IIIT-A, Mr Bhandary added.
