Our Bureau

Coimbatore, June 15 The Union Minister for Textiles, Mr Dayanidhi Maran, is scheduled to visit the textile clusters at Palladam and Coimbatore on Tuesday to inaugurate the 126-room hostel block at the Palladam Hi-Tech Weaving Park (PHWP) and interact with the powerloom weavers, textiles and clothing exporters and members of the Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA).

This, incidentally, is Mr Maran’s first visit to Coimbatore after assuming charge as the Union Minister for Textiles.

SIMA has arranged a meeting at The Residency to facilitate the industry stakeholders to have a one-on-one interaction with Mr Maran.

At Palladam, the Minister would inaugurate the hostel block established with an outlay of Rs 8.72 crore and with a capacity to accommodate 1,000 workers. The PHWP Chairman and Managing Director, Mr M. Senthil Kumar, said the PHWP was aimed at providing employment to about 3,000 rural youth.
