New Delhi, June 15 TVS Motor Company will introduce a scooter and a motorcycle in the executive segment to achieve a sales growth of 12-14 per cent this fiscal.

These will be in addition to the premium bike, Apache 180-cc, which was launched on Monday, and the SR 125-cc motorcycle, which will be introduced by the month-end.

The SR 125-cc will be an upgraded version of the Flame.

The company is also looking to launch a step-through for the Indonesian market. It already sells models – such as TVS Neo and Rocks – produced at its plant there.

“We should be aiming at a double-digit growth this fiscal,” said Mr H.S. Goindi, President, Marketing, TVS.

Apache 180-cc is priced at Rs 63,990 (ex-showroom Delhi). Currently, the company sells a combined volume of 10,000-11,000 units of both the variants of its 160-cc Apache. The company expects the new model to provide incremental sales of 1,000-2,000 units.

“Overall, we expect to grow at 12-14 per cent this year. The new Apache will increase our market share by 3 per cent in the 150-cc-and-above segment,” said Mr Goindi. The Apache contributes 10 per cent to the company’s overall motorcycle sales.

The market size for 150-cc-and-above bikes is 65,000-75,000 units a month, he said.

The South-based two-wheeler company has a market share of 28-30 per cent in scooters and 11-12 per cent in motorcycles. Last fiscal, the company’s scooter sales dropped by 4 per cent to 2.39 lakh units. Motorcycle sales also declined by 8 per cent to 4.57 lakh units domestically.

Mr Goindi said its exports, which grew by 40 per cent last fiscal, were expected to remain flat. In the fiscal ended March 2009, the company’s exports stood at 1.97 lakh units.

“Although we will add three to four export markets, overseas sales will remain flat,” Mr Goindi added.
