Chakrabarty takes charge as RBI Deputy Governor

Mumbai, June 15 Dr K. C. Chakrabarty on Monday took charge as a Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.

The appointment is for three years from the date of his taking charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier, said the RBI notification issued today.

Dr Chakrabarty will oversee the Departments of customer service, administration and personnel management, information technology, payment and settlement systems, human resource development, Raj Basha, rural planning and credit, and urban banks. He will be the Alternate Appellate Authority under the Right to Information Act, 2005.

Dr Chakrabarty was Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Bank and Punjab National Bank, and Chairman of the Indian Banks’ Association before taking charge as a RBI Deputy Governor.
