Rupee gains marginally


Mumbai, June 19

The rupee gained marginally by 11 paise against the dollar on Friday, in a volatile market. The domestic currency opened at 48.20 and weakened to touch an intra-day low of 48.27. It closed at 48.10, as against the previous close of 48.21. The rupee gained after tracking the positive domestic equity indices, said a dealer with a private sector bank.

In the overseas markets, the dollar weakened slightly against other currencies. In the forward premia market, the six-month premium closed marginally higher at 2.81 per cent (2.74 per cent) and the one-year closed at 2.44 per cent (2.45 per cent).
