ICAI to set up centre of excellence in Bangalore

Mangalore, June 22 The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will set up a centre of excellence on a 10-acre campus in Bangalore, said Mr K. Raghu, Chairman of the Infrastructure Committee of ICAI.

Speaking at the inauguration of the renovated branch of the Mangalore chapter of Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) of ICAI here on Monday, he said the Karnataka Government has allotted 10 acres for setting up a centre of excellence in Bangalore. The ICAI is in possession of this land, and the foundation stone will be laid next month. This centre will have a residential facility also.

He said ICAI is taking infrastructure projects on a fast-track mode.

Giving details of various projects in Karnataka, he said that Rs 12 lakh was sanctioned for the renovation of the premises of ICAI Bhavan in Mangalore.

In Hubli, ICAI has been allotted one acre, and Rs 1 crore has been sanctioned for this. The ICAI has renovated its building in Belgaum. He said that Rs 50 lakh has been sanctioned for the construction of a building for the branch of ICAI in Bellary.

Three mega computer centres of 250 seats each are coming up in Mumbai, he said.

Mr M. Devaraja Reddy, Chairman of SIRC, said the council has 33 branches under its jurisdiction. Of them, 29 have own buildings.
