Airlines Marketing - New Products & Services States - Tamil Nadu flydubai to start India operations next month Our Bureau Coimbatore, June 26 ‘flydubai’, a low-cost airline from Dubai, is launching a service to Dubai from here from July 15. Coimbatore will be the first city in the South that would be covered by flydubai and one of the three Indian cities to figure in the first list of cities to which the airline would offer its services on commencing its operations to India. Dubai is the third international destination to which Coimbatore gets a direct flight, the others being Sharjah and Singapore. Incidentally, all the three foreign destinations are linked by foreign airlines Air Arabia and SilkAir, apart from flydubai. Mr Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, in a press release, said India was a very important market and the airline was looking forward to serving the needs of customers wishing to travel between India and the UAE. There was a huge Indian expatriate population living in the UAE and flydubai was committed to making travel between the Indian cities of Lucknow, Coimbatore and Chandigarh and the UAE easier and a little less expensive. The flight to Dubai will operate from Lucknow on July 14 and will operate four times per week. The fare will start from Rs 4,700, including all taxes and one piece of hand baggage weighing up to 10 kg. The thrice-weekly Coimbatore service will take off for Dubai on July 15 and fares from Coimbatore also start from Rs 4,700. flydubai will become the first international flight to depart from Chandigarh on July 23 and fares start from Rs 3,700.
