Dow India supply chain gets award

Our Bureau

Ahmedabad, June 26 Dow India’s supply chain expertise group, in collaboration with a Tata Consulting Services consulting team, received 2009 Progressive Manufacturing Award by US-based Managing Automation magazine for their work on a global marine network design project.

The India, West Asia and Africa area supply chain expertise group is based at the company’s business process service centre in Mumbai.

Chartered to design an optimised “backbone” for the company’s future marine supply chain network for the 2016 - 2026 timeframe, the project looked at the macro supply chain material flow created by the strategic growth projects in the emerging regions of West Asia and Asia and provides a complete overview of what an optimised, highly flexible and cost-efficient marine supply chain will look like over 20 years.

“The two most vital initiatives in this project were collaboration with the logistic service providers to get insight into future developments in marine logistics and the use of network optimisation and simulation techniques in tandem, to get a holistic picture,” said Mr Kurt Zetah, supply chain expertise centre leader.
