Telecommunications Marketing - New Products & Services States - Kerala Tata Docomo GSM service launched in Kerala Our Bureau Kochi, June 28 Tata Docomo, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices Ltd, has announced the commercial launch of its operations in Kerala. The company’s Managing Director, Mr Anil Sardana, launched the operations in the State by making the first phone call from Tata Docomo 3G ready network to the Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Mr Shashi Tharoor, who is on an official tour to Yemen. Mr Sardana said that the pan India service rollout would be completed this year with south Indian circles going live soon. The services in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh will be rolled out in the next two weeks, he said, adding that the company has earmarked an investment of $2 billion on its pan-India GSM network rollout. From the day of the launch, he said, the reach and coverage is greater in Kerala than that of any other operator at the launch stage. The Tata Docomo GSM mobile service will have extensive coverage in 500 towns and 516 villages, along 890 km of the State’s highways, at airports, along 940 km of rail routes and at places of tourist interest. Mr Deepak Gulati, President, Tata Docomo, said that the company offers simplicity to consumers in a market that is cluttered with many operators and throws up confusing options. The first move on this front is to cut through the clutter and redefine the entire pricing paradigm from day one of the launch. The company is providing per-second pricing model for almost everything such as voice calls, VAS services, IVR interactions. Subscribers can call anywhere in India for just one paise per second, he said. More Stories on : Telecommunications | New Products & Services | Kerala
