Our Bureau

Hyderabad, June 29 Tissot, member of the Swatch Group, a leading Swiss watch maker, is betting big on the Indian watch market, lining up new launches and planning to expand its distribution network in the next few years.

“Currently, India is among the top 17 markets amongst Tissot’s global markets, which spread across the US, Europe, West Asia and Far East. In the next three to five years, we are targeting to bring India in the list of top 10 markets for Tissot,” Dr Ulrich Fischer, Tissot’s Vice-President (Sales), told presspersons here recently.

He was here to launch the new Tissot Sea-Touch range, a diver’s watch that has the ability to maintain its performance, including recording the depth of the dive and speed of the diver, at a depth of 200 metres. The tactile watch, priced at Rs 47,300 onwards, also provides a selection of important diving data.

The watch was launched by Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone, who is the Tissot brand ambassador and the ‘face of Tissot’ worldwide.

Dr Fischer said globally the watch maker has lined up launch of 120 new references for this year, and the Indian market would also be included for most of these launches. Further, the company plans to add three to four new outlets to its existing five, covering cities such as Chennai, Kochi and Bangalore.
