Biological E nod for anthrax vaccine

Hyderabad, June 29

Biological E Ltd has been granted registration for BioThrax (Anthrax vaccine adsorbed) from the Drugs Controller General of India. The registration would allow Biological E to market/sell the vaccine in India. The vaccine, which would help prevent anthrax infection, would be marketed by Emergent BioSolutions.

BioThrax is the only FDA-licensed vaccine for the prevention of anthrax infection. It is licensed by the FDA as a pre-exposure prophylaxis for use in adults who are at high risk of exposure to anthrax spores. Since 1998, the US Government has procured nearly 33.5 million doses of BioThrax. - Our Bureau
