Off-shore Development vCustomer mulls centre in US Moumita Bakshi Chatterjee New Delhi, June 29 Business process outsourcing company vCustomer Corporation is evaluating the possibility of setting up a centre in the US. It expects to take a decision on the proposal by the end of the next quarter after a dialogue with clients on their business needs. The company has been exploring the option of a US facility for the last three-four months, a move that would allow it to take up work not offshored by US businesses. “There is work that is being done by the captive centres of the US companies. Having our own centre in the US would allow us to go after such opportunities,” Mr Sanjay Kumar, CEO of vCustomer, told Business Line. He said the company was in talks with clients to gauge their requirements. The centre could have nearly 200-300 people. At present, vCustomers’ 4,600 employees are spread across India and the Philippines. It derives nearly 75 per cent of its revenue from the US and five per cent from the UK, while India accounts for 20 per cent of the business. Of the company’s 44 clients, 26 are in the domestic market. “The domestic market has growth potential,” Mr Kumar said adding that if the company did not proceed with the US centre plans, the domestic market’s contribution could rise to about 30 per cent over the next four quarters. vCustomer — which focuses on platform-based solutions — sees the headcount growing at 10-15 per cent this year.
