Our Bureau

Chennai, July 1

As a first move towards the `generation next' at the HCL Group, Ms Roshni Nadar, daughter of HCL founder Mr Shiv Nadar, has taken over as the Executive Director and CEO of HCL Corporation

Mr Nadar will continue to head the corporation which is the investment company with controlling stakes in HCL Infosystems and HCL Technologies.

The position of the Executive Director and CEO was hitherto held by Mr Nadar.

"She took over in the new post from April," Mr Nadar told newspersons at the SSN College of Engineering on the outskirts of Chennai.

As CEO and Executive Director, Ms Roshni will be responsible for strategic decision making at HCL Corporation, says a company release.

HCL Corporation holds nearly 50 per cent in HCL Technologies, which recorded revenues of about Rs 7,640 crore for the year ended June 2008; and holds about 44 per cent in HCL Infosystems whose revenues for the same period touched Rs 12,605 crore. Total promoter holdings, including through HCL Corporation, in these two companies amount to 68 per cent and about 54.5 per cent respectively.

Mr Saurav Adhikari, Corporate Vice-President, Strategy, HCL Technologies Ltd, said that Ms Roshni Nadar is involved only in the investment company HCL Corporation, and not in either HCL Infosystems or HCL Technologies - both managed by a group of professionals.

Profile

A trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation, which has established the not-for-profit SSN College of Engineering in Chennai, Ms Roshni Nadar, has a MBA in Social Enterprise Management and Strategy from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

She is also involved in brand building across the HCL Group.

Ms Roshni returned from the US in October last, and has since been involved with the HCL Corporation before taking over Executive Director and CEO.
