SpiceJet mulls international routes

Mumbai, July 1

SpiceJet, the Delhi-based low-cost carrier, might consider commencing its international operations to West Asia, South Asia and SAARC region in 2010. “We will be using same aircraft type (Boeing 737s) and will look at flying on short haul international routes (within four hour radius),” said Mr Samyukth Sridharan, Chief Commercial Officer, SpiceJet. SpiceJet will become eligible to fly overseas in May. According to Government norms, a carrier should operate loc ally for five years before flying to international routes. The stock price of SpiceJet closed 1.04 per cent down at Rs 19.10 on the BSE on Wednesday.
