Market Shares Info-Tech - Telecommunications States - West Bengal Lava targeting 10% market share Kolkata, July 2 Lava International Ltd, a new entrant in the mobile handset business, is targeting a market share of 10-12 per cent of the mid-priced segment in the first year of operation, according to its Co-founder and Director, Mr Sunil Bhalla. It plans to sell three to four million phones in the first year, he told presspersons here on the sidelines of a conference, adding that the price range for its phones would vary between Rs 2,000 and Rs 4,000. The company imports phones from Chinese manufacturers on contract. The eastern region, which at present contributed 17-18 per cent of total sales for the industry, was among the fastest growing zones, Mr Bhalla said. In West Bengal, six lakh mobile phones were being sold a month, a company official said, adding that the State contributed six per cent of the national sales.
